If you’re a sports fan, there’s no better place to live right now than Missouri – the State of Champions.

Missouri is home to the 2-time Super Bowl Champion Kansas City Chiefs, the 11-time World Series champion St. Louis Cardinals, 2-time champion Kansas City Royals, and the 2019 Stanley Cup champion St. Louis Blues.

Additionally, Missouri will soon be home to a new MLS team after the soccer organization announced that it had selected St. Louis as the home of one of its new teams, St. Louis City SC.

Now, Kansas City NWSL announced plans to build a $15 million training facility in Riverside, Missouri, just north of Kansas City. The women’s soccer training facility will include two grass pitches and a 17,000 square foot building. The layout includes a locker room, weight and cardio rooms, office space, outdoor gathering spaces, and areas for nutrition and wellness.

“The training facility gives a tangible sign of the three driving forces for our club: our players, our community and our passion to create the future of women’s sports,” Kansas City NWSL Co-Owner Angie Long said. “Our team will spend more time together here than anywhere, so it’s thrilling for us to bring it to life so quickly.”

The project is expected to be completed in 2022.
