Missouri Accelerator Takes Aim at Businesses That Can Help in the Fight Against COVID-19

Missouri’s newest business accelerator is aimed at finding and building up companies that can help with the coronavirus crisis. The Black & Veatch IgnitedX COVID-19 Response Accelerator is a venture of the Kansas City-based engineering firm, Black & Veatch, and LaunchKC, an accelerator platform that partners Kansas City corporations with tech startups.

The virtual accelerator will commit a minimum of $250,000 in grants or in-kind services to selected companies. Additional funding or equity investments may be possible, according to the accelerator website.

Types of operations that are being targeted by the accelerator include those dealing with testing and screening technologies, new disinfection technologies, disease-tracking software, and emergency medical facilities. The accelerator will also look at operations that have been in the spotlight due to the COVID-19 outbreak, including remote collaboration software, distance learning and training tools, and modular communications.
