St. Louis and Kansas City both ranked highly on WalletHub’s 2015 list of the best and worst cities for recreation.

St. Louis ranked at No. 8 overall, earning the No. 4 spot for entertainment and recreational facilities and the No. 17 spot for the quality of parks. St. Louis also came in second for having the most number of music venues per capita.

Kansas City ranked at No. 23 overall, earning the No. 34 spot for entertainment and recreational facilities and the No. 30 spot for the quality of parks.

To highlight the benefits of public spaces and recreational activities in communities, WalletHub compared the 100 largest U.S. cities—not including their surrounding metro areas—across 27 key metrics.

“In each city, we examined basic costs, the quality of parks, the accessibility of entertainment and recreational facilities as well as the climate,” WalletHub stated in the report.
