Sungevity Inc. is growing faster in Kansas City than it anticipated

On Thursday, the Oakland, Calif. solar power company showed off its new sales and customer service center space in the City Center Square building in downtown Kansas City. Since announcing plans to set up an office in Kansas City in November, the company has hired 103 of the roughly 600 employees it plans to hire in coming years.

At the event, CEO Andrew Birch and Susan Hollingshead, chief people and corporate services officer, showed off the new offices at 1100 Main St. and spoke about their plans to expand further in the building. Hollingshead said the company has leased about 82,000 square feet of space on two floors, which would be enough to accommodate the 595 employees its committed to hiring, and it expects fill the space over the next three years.
