St. Louis Children’s Hospital first in U.S. to implant artificial lung

St. Louis Children’s Hospital recently became the first hospital in the country to implant an artificial lung.

A team of Washington University doctors working at the hospital and led by cardio-thoracic surgeon Dr. Charles Huddleston said the German-made Novalung sLA Membrane Lung saved the life of Owen Stark, a 2-year-old from Eldon, Mo. Owen is the youngest person in the world to receive one.
