National project will push exporting in Kansas City area

By the end of the Brookings Institution’s Global Cities Initiative, Kansas City will join ranks with 27 other areas as a major metropolitan exporter.

The Global Cities Initiative, a program funded by Brookings and JPMorgan Chase, brings companies together to form a steering committee, which tackles exporting challenges facing area businesses.

“It’s nice to have the same conversation with 50 different people because sometimes you hear the same thing and sometimes you hear something completely different,” said Ward Nixon, an executive director at JPMorgan & Chase Co. and a member of the GCI steering committee. “If you get enough people around the table, you can start to come up with some pretty creative ideas.”
