The St. Louis Zoo in St. Louis, Missouri, has been named the “Nation’s Best Free Attraction” by USA Today’s 10 Best Readers’ Choice Awards Program. The zoo was the only zoo featured on the list and beat out Central Park, in New York City, along with more than 20 other attractions.

“This is a win for the entire St. Louis region and its residents and civic leaders who have long supported and appreciated St. Louis’ world-class free zoo,” said Jeffrey Bonner, president and chief executive officer of the zoo.

The Saint Louis Zoo has offered free admission since it’s founding in 1910. It attracts about 3.2 million visitors each year, according to the zoo. The St. Louis Zoo is one of many attractions Missouri has to offer in addition to its world championship sports teams and unique natural environment.
