Missouri S&T to experiment with solar microgrids

Missouri University of Science and Technology says four solar homes built by students soon will be part of an experimental microgrid to demonstrate the feasibility of such small-scale projects.
The project involves houses in the university’s Solar Village that will use the microgrid to store and manage renewable energy. Professor Mehdi Ferdowski says the microgrid will be less dependent on the utility power grid and can operate during blackouts by using stored solar energy.
