Missouri ranks first in its region for new facilities and expansions

Site Selection Magazine ranked Missouri first in the North West Central Region for the 2013 Governor’s Cup awards, Gov. Jay Nixon announced. More than 125 businesses either expanded their facilities or opened new facilities in the Show-Me State in 2013, an increase of 57 expansions over the previous year.

“This first place ranking demonstrates that Missouri’s low taxes, trained workforce and excellent quality of life continue to make the Show-Me State a top destination for growing companies,” said Gov. Nixon. “To continue this economic momentum, we must hold the line on taxes and avoid the reckless fiscal experiments that are dragging other states and their economies down.”

The North West Central Region includes Missouri, Nebraska, Kansas, Iowa, Minnesota, and North and South Dakota. Nebraska was Missouri’s runner up with 109 businesses announcing expansions in 2013, and Kansas came in third with 106 expansions.
