U.S. exports support 121,865 jobs in the St. Louis area and more than 77,000 jobs in the Kansas City area, according to a report released last month by the Brookings Institution.
Of the 100 metropolitan areas reviewed for the study, St. Louis ranked 16th and Kansas City ranked 26th in terms of total jobs related to exports. The study uses 2008 data and shows that U.S. exports support about 11.8 million jobs nationwide.
