The mayors were graded in the categories of audience, frequency, responsiveness, engagement and influence.

Two Missouri mayors are “Tweet Elite” in a new DCI report.  The report identified the “best of the best” among the mayors of America’s 250 largest cities based on numerous categories.

Mayor Francis Slay, of St. Louis, and Mayor Sly James, of Kansas City, were ranked as number 7 and 14, respectively.  The results were based on the Twitter activity of each mayor over a 60-day period. The mayors were graded in the categories of audience, frequency, responsiveness, engagement and influence.

In addition to their overall rankings, Mayor Slay placed in the top five for total audience of any mayor in proportion to city population, and Mayor James was tied for first in influence, a category based on the number of other mayors that are following his account.

The mayors, as well as numerous other economic development partners around the state, are turning to Twitter as yet another innovative way to attract and welcome new businesses to the state, while also highlighting the amazing work existing Missouri businesses are doing.  This outreach highlights the statewide commitment to responsiveness and engagement, which is evident in all levels of economic development in Missouri. The effective utilization of technology and innovative techniques is helping Missouri stand out as a state where companies can come to grow and thrive.
