Frito-Lay North America is betting big on Smith Electric Vehicles U.S., planning to deploy 176 of the company’s all-electric delivery trucks during the next year.
The company, a division of PepsiCo Inc. (NYSE: PEP), said Wednesday that it will deploy 21 of the Kansas City-built vehicles this year, beginning with five this month in New York City and later moving to routes in Columbus, Ohio, and Fort Worth, Texas. It said it expects to add 155 trucks in 2011.
