Ford will invest $400M in Kansas City plant

Ford Motor Co. plans to invest $400 million in its Kansas City Assembly Plant as part of a retooling for a new vehicle.

The automaker also committed to keeping full-time employment at 3,750. The Tuesday announcement is key for the Kansas City area, which last month found out that production of the next-generation Ford Escape SUV would move to Louisville, Ky., in late 2011.
