hallmark750xx5158-2907-0-295All month long Missouri Partnership is taking a look back at 31 of Missouri’s biggest stories in economic development from the past year. Today we take a look at Hallmark Cards Inc.’s grand opening of their new distribution center in Independence, Missouri.

On October 19, Hallmark Cards Inc. cut the ribbon on their new 500,000 sq. ft. distribution center, which currently employs more than 100 workers with plans to continue that growth. Hallmark began moving into the underground space in Carefree Industrial Park, a 4.2 million-square-foot subsurface development, in 2015 and the ribbon cutting marked the end of the move. The park encompasses over 550 surface acres and is home to more than 40 companies in industries ranging from distribution and logistics to food solutions.

Hallmark’s Missouri distribution center handles U.S. distribution of non-card gift items, such as ornaments, sold at Hallmark retail stores.
