Plant center signals shift in research

Conditions were too soggy yesterday to break ground on a new plant research center at the actual site, but rain didn’t dampen the enthusiasm of more than 200 people who gathered to celebrate the project.

Three years in the planning, the Missouri Plant Science Center is expected to open on a 10-acre site in southeast Mexico, Mo., next year. Missouri dignitaries held a ceremonial groundbreaking at the Audrain County 4-H Center yesterday.
