A groundbreaking ceremony was held in December, 2014, celebrating Boeing’s announcement that it will begin building parts for its 777X commercial aircraft in St. Louis. Boeing plans to make a “significant capital investment” at its St. Louis composites facility, creating 700 jobs in the region, officials said. When production begins in 2017 it will mark the first time production of Boeing commercial plans will take place in Missouri.
