Missouri ranks 3rd for percent increase in tech jobs from 2011-2012

According to a report released today from the TechAmerica Foundation, Missouri posted the third highest percentage increase in tech industry jobs last year in the nation.

Missouri’s tech industry employed 92,100 people in 2012, accounting for 4.2 percent of its private sector workforce.   This was up from 89,300 jobs in 2011, an increase of 2,800, and the 9th highest increase in the nation.

“In Missouri, we are committed to competing in the global, high-tech economy of the 21st century,” Gov. Jay Nixon said. “Our focus on science and innovation is paying off, with expansions by IBM, Unisys, Boehringer Ingelheim, Express Scripts, Monsanto and others in just the past three years. With balanced budgets, a Triple-A credit rating, world-class higher educational institutions and a skilled workforce, Missouri will continue to attract high-tech jobs and investment to the state.”
