Missouri Governor, CEO Talk About The Future Of Kansas City & The State

“Let me just start by saying, boy did we make the right bet by choosing Kansas City,” said Jonathan Tisch, chairman and CEO of Loews Hotels & Co.

Tisch was in Kansas City, Missouri, this past week to give a keynote interview at the Downtown Council of Kansas City’s annual luncheon, and to tour the construction on his company’s Loews Kansas City Convention Center Hotel project.

“I’m the first to admit that Kansas City really wasn’t on our radar,” said Tisch. “I said: What’s it all about? Where’s the opportunity? What’s happening in Kansas City? And within two weeks, I think I was on a plane.”

Missouri Governor Mike Parson also spoke at the event, and highlighted the importance of improving the state’s and Kansas City’s workforce development efforts and infrastructure.

“If Missouri is to move forward, if we are to go to another level, it will be with those two factors in place,” said Gov. Parson.

The event, which had a Destination Downtown theme, highlighted roughly 15 years of projects that have transformed the downtown Kansas City area, including the Kansas City Power & Light District, the H&R Block headquarters, Sprint Center, the streetcar and more.
