KC getting smarter: Smart City plan aims for better living through data

Not all the strategy is focused on the field at Sporting Park.

The home to Sporting Kansas City makes heavy use of Cisco Systems Inc. technology and applications developed by team affiliate Sporting Innovations LLC to learn and log information about fan behavior.
Armed with this data, the team can quickly make decisions about moving a concession stand, adding more toilets to ease congestion or changing wait times to get people to move to other areas of the stadium. The team also can make moves based on the habits of specific fans.
