Five Missouri banks make SNL Financial’s list of best performing community banks.
Among them is Sterling Bank, with locations in Clayton, Chesterfield, Poplar Bluff and Van Buren, Mo. With $513 million in assets as of Dec. 31, Sterling is 59th among U.S. community banks with $500 million to $5 billion in assets. Southern Missouri Bancorp, based in Poplar Bluff and with $950 million in assets, ranks 49th.
Among banks with less than $500 million in assets, Wells Bank of Platte City, with $108 million in assets, ranks 14th; Peoples Community Bank in Greenville, with $164 million, ranks 19th; and Citizens Bank of Edina, with $66 million, ranks 41st.
