Project expected to create 87 new jobs, Gov. Nixon announces
IBC North America and Clean Tide Container will co-open a new facility in Chillicothe to manufacture and refurbish intermediate bulk containers, investing more than $5.1 million and creating 87 new local jobs, Gov. Nixon today announced.
“I’m proud to announce that another major manufacturer is setting up shop and creating jobs in the Show-Me State,” Gov Nixon said. “By holding down taxes, protecting our perfect Triple-A credit rating and investing in our workforce, we’ve made Missouri one of the best states in the nation for businesses to locate and expand. Today, our proven, pro-growth policies continue to pay off for Missouri families. The decision by IBC North America and Clean Tide Container to invest and create jobs in Chillicothe is great news for this region and another example of the continued economic growth we’re seeing in every corner of our state.”
The 50,000 square foot facility will be the third operation center for IBC North America and the fifth for Clean Tide Container. The Midwest facility is needed to keep up with increased demand, particularly in the agricultural sector. The new location will also allow the companies to provide more efficient service to customers in the Midwest, including St. Joseph where both IBC North America and Clean Tide Container have a strong client base.

Chillicothe’s Mayor Chuck Haney stated, “As Mayor on behalf of the City of Chillicothe, this is great news for us. Adding more than 80 jobs is a tremendous boost for our local and area economy. We welcome both of these companies to our community that will occupy a former vacant building in our industrial park.”
IBC North America, based in Clarkston, Mich., manufactures industrial containers known as intermediate bulk containers and has a global free pick-up service for empty containers. The company was founded in 1997 and has experienced rapid growth since then, requiring a new facility to be opened in Lawrenceville, Ga.
Clean Tide Container was founded in 2004 as a reconditioning operation headquartered in Robertsdale, Ala. The company is one of the fastest growing intermediate bulk container reconditioning, collection and recycling companies in the United States, with facilities in Stanton, Ky., Perris, Calif., and Clarkston, Mich.
“The entire Kansas City region celebrates this announcement today along with the addition of more than 80 skilled manufacturing jobs,” said Bob Marcusse, president and CEO, Kansas City Area Development Council. “American manufacturing is alive and well, and the KC region is an ideal location for the industry to grow.”
This announcement comes at the heels of other recent major manufacturing expansions taking place around the state including Noranda Aluminum ($45 million investment, creation of 29 new jobs) in New Madrid, and CertainTeed ($100 million investment, creation of 100 new jobs) in Jonesburg.
To assist IBC North America and Clean Tide Containers in moving forward with their growth plans, the companies could be eligible for a strategic economic incentive package from the state of Missouri if they meet the strict job creation and investment criteria of each program.
