Diode Dynamics, an Earth City-based manufacturer of automotive lighting, plans to expand its physical footprint by leasing a 15,000-square-foot engineering facility that will enable the company to hire nearly 200 new employees over the next three years.

Most of those new positions will be production team members, though a company spokeswoman said Diode also plans to add 50 new engineers at the facility.

Diode is investing $400,000 to add engineering and test equipment at the facility, which is located near Diode’s other two facilities in Earth City. The new facility, which will open in May, will serve as an electrostatic discharge-safe electrical laboratory, goniometer and integrating sphere for photometric testing, and engineering offices.
