American Foods Group Wins 2022 Community Impact (CiCi) Award

AFG broke ground on the new $800 million state-of-the-art facility in Missouri in September 2022

American Foods Group (AFG), a family-owned, U.S. beef processing company, was recently awarded the Community Impact Award in Trade & Industry Development’s 2022 Corporate Investment/Community Impact Awards (CiCi Awards) for its substantial investment in Missouri.

Published by leading site selection publication Trade & Industry Development, the annual CiCi Awards honor projects from all over the U.S. that bring extensive capital investment or influential community impact – or both – to help shape the communities in which they are located. After a rigorous selection process involving hundreds of nominations, AFG emerged as one of 15 winners in the “Community Impact” category for its $800 million investment in the community of Warren County and the State of Missouri.

Announcing Missouri as the site of its new $800 million beef processing facility in 2021, AFG recently broke ground on the state-of-the-art 775,000 sq. ft. facility, lured by the state’s strong agricultural community and business-friendly economy.

“AFG is proud to partner with Warren County on this exciting new facility,” said Jim Rathke, AFG’s Executive Vice President. “We are humbled by the community’s support and are honored to join Missouri’s growing list of agricultural leaders.”

The company plans to create 1,300 new jobs, and they’re utilizing Missouri One Start to ensure they have recruitment tools and a robust training program for the large workforce. In total, AFG will have a projected annual economic impact of $1 billion in the region.

“We received hundreds of nominations for our CiCi Awards, and each one represented a bright spot in a difficult and challenging year,” said President of Due North Media Scott Swoger. “…By deciding to locate or expand in a certain area, these companies, and the economic development agencies that guided the projects, helped to shape the community and the economies where they’re located.”

Each of the 30 winners is featured in Trade & Industry Development’s “CiCi Awards Issue 2022,” which is available now in print and online at TradeAndIndustryDev.com.
