Vedanta Resources PLC said Monday it has acquired the zinc assets of Anglo American PLC, creating the world’s largest zinc and lead producer.
The deal, valued at $1.34 billion, follows Anglo’s announcement in October that it would focus on its portfolio of large-scale, long-life mining assets in commodities, such as copper, iron ore and coal, where it holds advantaged positions.
