Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph has received the largest research grant in its history.
University officials announced Thursday that the school was awarded a $1 million, three-year National Science Foundation grant to fund undergraduate synthetic biology research on the genetic material of bacteria, which could be used in energy, environment, pharmaceuticals, food production, biomining and bioremediation.
