Missouri Unemployment Drops 1% Since September; Now 0.6% Below National Average

Missouri continues to lower its unemployment through growth in key sectors.

 

Missouri’s unemployment rate for January fell to 4.3 percent, the lowest it’s been since June 2001 and 0.6 percent below the national average, according to Missouri’s Department of Economic Development. This is a full percentage point drop from the 5.3 percent unemployment in September 2015.

The national average for January is 4.9 percent, down only 0.2 percent from the September national average of 5.1 percent.

Health care, social assistance, financial services, construction and manufacturing saw the greatest increase in jobs for January.
