St. Louis Region

The St. Louis, Missouri, region, and the 2.8 million people who call it home, are a hub of innovation and entrepreneurship, recognized globally as a leader in agtech, financial services, advanced manufacturing, defense, health innovation and distribution.

The St. Louis region boasted the 2nd highest concentration of financial securities brokerage firms in the nation’s 25 largest metros, surpassed only by New York, in 2021, and is home to major financial services firms such as Edward Jones, MasterCard, RGA and Wells Fargo Advisors.

The region is also a major force in advanced manufacturing, being the home of Boeing Defense, Space and Security.

With Missouri’s status as the global agtech leader, the St. Louis region is home to Bayer CropScience, the Missouri Botanical Gardens, Danforth Plant Science Center, Bunge and many more innovative companies.

And given the St. Louis regions connection to six Class 1 railroads, positioning on the Mississippi, with highways going in all directions, and an international airport with a regional FTZ, it’s no surprise the region has a tradition of leadership in transportation, distribution and logistics.

And we have to mention its innovation communities, including Cortex, T-REX and BRDG Park. These were a prime reason for the St. Louis region’s selection as the home of the new NGA-West and the second largest office for the tech innovation company Square co-founded by Jim McKelvey and Jack Dorsey.
