Missouri Agtech Company Listed Among Most Promising For A.I.

CB Insights recently named Benson Hill BioSystems, a St. Louis, Missouri-based agtech company, as one of the 100 most promising companies using artificial intelligence. The list was selected from a pool of more than 2,000 startups based on several criteria, including investor profile, tech innovation, team strength, patent activity, mosaic score, funding history, valuation and business model.

Benson Hill BioSystems’ software platform, called CropOS, uses cloud biology to help introduce new choices for growers, and develop more product candidates to increase crop yield. Benson Hill BioSystems was one of only two agtech companies to appear on the list, and was also recently named as one of four agtech startups in CB Insights’ 30 Startups That Could Change the World list.

Missouri is the global leader in agtech and gateway to the future of advanced farming. Missouri’s agtech industry is leading the way with innovative technology and research that is transforming agriculture. Missouri’s crop and livestock diversity, abundant water supply and rich soil provide a solid, statewide, foundation for agtech companies to grow and succeed.

Missouri’s agriculture industry contributes $33 billion in GDP to Missouri’s economy, and generates $88 billion in sales and more than 378,000 jobs. In fact, so much agricultural product is shipped via river barge from the St. Louis region that a 15-mile section of the Mississippi is becoming known as the “Ag Coast” of America.

We are also proud to be home to leading agtech organizations, including the Danforth Plant Science Center, Monsanto, the Missouri Botanical Garden, Yield Lab, DuPont, BASF, Bayer, Bunge, KWS, Zoetis, AgriLabs, Boehringer Ingelheim and many more.

In Missouri, the future of agtech is happening today. Big data, smart farming, input optimization, precision ag, biologicals, breeding, green chemistry, green pharmaceuticals, intellectual capital, an extensive agtech infrastructure, investors … it’s all growing right here.
