KC signs ‘smart city’ deal with Cisco, Sprint

Kansas City on Thursday signed a “smart city” agreement with Cisco Systems Inc. and Sprint Corp.

The more than $15 million plan aims to upgrade infrastructure and promote technological innovation in Downtown, mainly in the area along the streetcar line. Although City Manager Troy Schulte signed a contract that the Kansas City Council approved in April, the documents he signed were not released to the Kansas City Business Journal. City spokesman Chris Hernandez said the documents will be released soon.
