KC named in ’10 high-tech cities you’ll want to call home’

A survey ranks Kansas City as a top 10 city to launch a high-tech career, PC magazine reports.

According to the survey, a major selling point for the Kansas City region is Google Fiber. The gigabit Internet service makes the area a “new destination for those who have startup aspirations but lack the deep pockets that Silicon Valley or New York might require.”

The magazine also pointed to Kansas City’s economic advantages for a new grad: “The average listing price for a 2-bedroom home in the region is just under $200,000 – compared to about $2 million in New York City.”
