Boehringer Ingelheim to buy Japanese consumer drug producer

German drug company Boehringer Ingelheim is in talks to make Japanese subsidiary SSP Co Ltd (4537.T) wholly-owned in a deal worth more than 30 billion yen ($335 million), the Nikkei newspaper reported.

Boehringer currently owns 60 percent of SSP, a maker of over-the-counter drugs.

Boehringer is expected to buy the remaining stake in a tender offer as early as the end of this month, the Nikkei said.
