St. Louis, Kansas City among the most literate U.S. cities

St. Louis ranked 8th overall, while Kansas City was 14th. The study, by Central Connecticut State University, ranks cities based on research data for six key indicators of their citizens' use of literacy: booksellers, educational attainment, Internet resources, library resources, newspaper circulation, and periodical publishing resources. The information is compared against population rates in each city to develop a per capita profile of the city's literacy. Both St. Louis and Kansas City ranked highest for library resources, coming in 2nd and 9th respectively.
