Missouri is wrapping up the final piece of a two-year, $39 million reconstruction of the Interstates 70 and 435 interchange — a new ramp from U.S. Highway 40 onto northbound I-435, the Independence Examiner reports. The work will create a detour for at least two weeks with the closing of the ramp from westbound I-70 to northbound I-435, the report says. The deadline to open the new U.S. 40 ramp is July 1, but good weather could accelerate that, the newspaper says.   Read More...

Delta Air Lines and Southwest Airlines plan new nonstop flights from Kansas City International Airport. On Monday, Delta Air Lines Inc. (NYSE: DAL) announced what will be Kansas City’s only nonstop flight to John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City. The flight starts in June. Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn announced a $685 million agreement Tuesday to begin construction on the next phase of high-speed rail between Chicago and St. Louis, the St. Louis Business Journal reports. Construction will begin April 5 of a new rail track using concrete ties between Dwight and Lincoln, as well as between Alton and the Mississippi River, along with the installation of a modernized signal system between Dwight and Alton.   Read More...

In this Annual Scorecard, the subset of GPS vehicle probe data from 2010 attributed to vehicles focused on long haul freight movement has been separated from the full archive to present a timely picture on national freight movement via highways. Frontier Airlines will offer nonstop flights between Kansas City and two new cities starting in June, the carrier announced Wednesday.
